Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area

Hanson

Easy Parking available Scenic views

Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area, spanning Hanson and Halifax, is a genuinely massive property managed by the state as fisheries and wildlife habitat, with 10 miles of walking trails around ponds, marsh, swamps, and retired cranberry bogs. Once logged for cedar and then peat before becoming a large cranberry operation, it is a favorite among birders, especially for the wood ducks that breed here -- plan for a full day if you want to see much of it, since 2,000+ acres is not a quick walk.
