Holbrook Town Forest

Holbrook Town Forest is a 115-acre property in northeastern Holbrook with 3 miles of well-marked trails through woodlands and forested wetlands, plus views of Hemlock Brook, numerous glacial erratic boulders, vernal pools, and standout features like Turtle Head Rock and the aptly named Garden of the Gods. The trail network includes the Wiggins, Long, Elfin Pond, Boundary, Sawyer, and Diman trails, connecting directly to Braintree's neighboring Cranberry Pond Conservation Area. Established in 1955 on undeveloped land, the forest sits within the 1,050-acre Cranberry Brook watershed, designated an Area of Critical Environmental Concern in 1983. It's entirely maintained by volunteers on the Town Forest Committee, working with a shoestring budget -- look for lady slippers in spring and wild blueberries by summer.
