Conservation
Wildlands Trust made its first-ever acquisition in Rockland in 2021-2022, taking a conservation restriction on the town's newly acquired McCarthy Farm Conservation Area, a former working farm.
History
Rockland was originally part of Abington. Studleys Pond sits along the historic Satucket Path, a Native American trail connecting Wessagusset in North Weymouth to Robbins Pond in East Bridgewater. In the 1800s, abolitionist Samuel Reed lived beside the pond, and his home served as a station on the Underground Railroad.
