Wyman North Fork Conservation Area

Located in Bridgewater, Wyman North Fork Conservation Area is a 96 acre property with natural wetland habitats. The 1. 1 mile trail is ideal for hiking and birding. 1-mile blue-blazed loop trail through open meadow, upland forest, and wetlands, including over a half-mile of frontage on the federally designated Wild and Scenic Taunton River. From a small parking area off Plymouth Street, a wooden bridge carries visitors into Wyman Meadow -- once a dairy farm through much of the 20th century -- where Song Sparrows and Red-winged Blackbirds now call from the tall grasses. The property's two halves have long, intertwining histories: Wildlands Trust purchased the wooded 41-acre North Fork Preserve in 2001, managing it "Forever Wild" without trails for over two decades, while the Town of Bridgewater acquired the adjoining 55-acre Wyman Meadow in 1999 but lacked the staffing to develop public access.
