Pape Reservation

Cohasset

Moderate Parking available Scenic views

Pape Reservation is a 10 acre piece of land located off 3A in Cohasset. The conservation area is accessible from the Cohasset Water Treatment Facility parking lot. This is a very basic trail but does include access to Lily Pond and some quiet moments in the woods. Like many Cohasset and South Shore trails, you can expect to see some significant rock formations and stone walls criss-crossing the forest.

History

In 1990, the Trust voted to grant the Town of Cohasset significant funding to help the Water Commission forestall development of 10.45 acres into an 11-lot subdivision on King Street adjacent to the water treatment plant on Lily Pond. Proceeds from the Olde Salt House sale and a contribution from Mrs. A. Werk Cook partially funded the sale that was completed in 1993.

The property provides wildlife habitat and critical watershed protection for Lily Pond, Cohasset’s drinking water supply, and connects with the Brass Kettle Conservation Area.
